Leaving a Legacy at College Park

Senior year, I was honored to serve as the 15th Theatre Board President at The Woodlands College Park High School. It was a unique time—our school was still adjusting to the effects of the pandemic, so I spent much of the year creating goofy activities and videos to keep our theatre community connected and motivated.

But as the year went on, my focus shifted toward something bigger. I wanted to leave more than just laughs behind—I wanted to build a legacy that would last long after I graduated. I wanted every student who walked through those auditorium doors to believe in themselves, to see theatre not just as a class or activity, but as a powerful way to express creativity and make a difference.

My goal was to inspire the next generation of artists—those who will write, design, perform, and create stories that matter. I hoped to give them the confidence and support to chase their dreams, just like I was encouraged to do. I wanted to make sure that the legacy I left wasn’t just about me, but about empowering others to carry the torch forward.

Being president wasn’t just a title—it was a responsibility to pave the way for future artists, so they too could find their voice, their passion, and their place in the arts community.

Takeout Theatre was an original immersive production created during the COVID-19 pandemic that transformed audiences from spectators into participants. Using a curated takeout box filled with interactive items, the performance combined storytelling, sensory experiences, and imagination to create a unique theatrical experience while celebrating creativity and human connection.

280 Characters in Search of an Author was an original, devised theatrical production inspired entirely by social media posts. Developed collaboratively by the cast, the show transformed tweets into comedic sketches, musical numbers, and improvisational scenes while exploring humor, current events, and meaningful social issues through a creative and interactive performance.

Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind is a long-running, interactive theatrical experiment where an ensemble attempts to perform 30 short plays in 60 minutes. There is no linear plot or traditional characters. Instead, the ever-changing menu of plays is chosen by the audience in real-time, all kept on track by an onstage 60-minute timer.
